About Us

Our project began in the summer of 2009 with just a handful of middle school math teachers from around the city, a few graduate students, and a couple of faculty members at the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education. The goal of the project was to develop materials that were engaging for students and relevant to the urban community, reflected the PA Standards and Assessment Anchors, and also served social justice purposes.The project very quickly became a professional learning community in which all participants became involved in various ways. Currently, we are meeting on a monthly basis to share and explore mathematics problems and activities with each other.
